    More areas in the North Island are expected to face very wet-weather tonight


    MetService has issued heavy rain warnings for the Tararua Range, Taranaki and the Bay of Plenty.

    Wellington is under a strong wind warning, with gusts reaching up to 120 kilometres an hour in some places.

    Meteorologist Ko-lo-fay-lo Doo-beh]says Great Barrier Island and Coromandel will face wet conditions too.

    She says the rain will extend to Great Barrier Island and Coromandel until 9am.
