    The Environmental Protection Authority says last year's 1080 operations were the largest on record


    The number of operations increased from 60 in 2023 to 65 in 2024 cover over one-million hectares.

    The most 1080 drops were carried out on the West Coast, followed by Canterbury.

    The Authority's Gayle Holmes says the increase last year in because native trees produced an unusually large crop of seeds the year before.

    She says this fuels a boom in pets like rats and stoats.
