The Breakers have done all they can to stay in the hunt for finals ball

The Breakers have done all they can to stay in the hunt for finals ball

They've beaten the South East Melbourne Phoenix 92-83 in Christchurch to move back to fourth on the Australian basketball league ladder.

It now means if fifth-placed Melbourne United defeat the Phoenix tomorrow, they'll deny the Breakers a spot in the finals, while for Brisbane to have any hope, they have to trounce Cairns by at least 32 points tonight.

Swingman Scotty Hopson's been asked how disappointing it'll be if they fall at the final hurdle.

Sydney's secured the regular-season championship by beating Illawarra 98-82.
