The Auckland Aces have pulled off a fairytale recovery to secure a one wicket win over Otago in their men's Super Smash Twenty20 match in Auckland

The Auckland Aces have pulled off a fairytale recovery to secure a one wicket win over Otago in their men's Super Smash Twenty20 match in Auckland

Chasing a modest target of 131 for victory, the Aces were in tatters early in their run chase, finding themselves on 13 for five then 26 for six.

But, coming in to bat at number seven, Sean Solia's unbeaten 67 off 54 has led the Aces to victory with just one wicket in hand, and two balls to spare.

Tail-end batsman Ben Lister prevailed under pressure to hit the winning runs through a boundary in what was his first ball.

Meanwhile, across the Tasman, Australia's added a further 62 runs today before being bowled out for 303 early on day two of the fifth Ashes test against England in Hobart.

Some entertaining hitting from bowler Nathan Lyon provided some thrills late in the innings, including hitting consecutive sixed.

Lyon was eventually dismissed for 31 off 27 balls.
