    England have fired back from being rattled by Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc's career-best spell as 19 wickets fell on the opening day of the first Ashes cricket test in Perth


    Starc took 7 for 58 as England were bundled out for 172 in their first innings, only for the tourists to reply with captain Ben Stokes picking up 5 for 23, as Australia ended the day at 123 for 9 - trailing by 49 runs.

    England bowler Brydon Carse hailed his pace attack's response.
