    The continual presence of Darren Smith in the New Zealand hockey set-up will prove little inconvenience for new Black Sticks men's coach Greg Nicol


    Nicol, a former assistant in the men's side at the 2008 and 2016 Olympic Games, is taking over the role vacated by Smith following the Tokyo Games.

    In September Smith moved into the high performance director role at Hockey New Zealand.

    Nicol isn't bothered that his predecessor remains, and sits in a role above him.
