Vegas Golden Knights ice hockey player Phil Kessel has broken the NHL record for the most consecutive games

He has played his 990th straight match in taking to the rink for a win against the San Jose Sharks where he scored his 400th career goal.
The 35-year-old started his streak on November 3, 2009, when he debuted for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Kessel had started that season by missing 12 games as he recovered from shoulder surgery and had previously fought back from a testicular cancer diagnosis at age 19.
