All Blacks flanker Wallace Sititi's breakthrough season has failed to qualify him for World Rugby's team of the year

All Blacks flanker Wallace Sititi's breakthrough season has failed to qualify him for World Rugby's team of the year

The 22-year-old's picked up the major rookie gong at the annual awards in Monaco - after going from a debut off the bench against Fiji to a starter within months.

The World XV loose forward positions were occupied by South Africa's Pieter-Steph du Toit, Argentina's Pablo Matera and Ireland's Caelan Doris.

Du Toit was anointed player of the year for a second time.

Tyrel Lomax, Damian McKenzie and Will Jordan made the cut for the side which features seven Springboks.

Georgia Ponsonby, Katelyn Vahaakolo and Sylvia Brunt were selected in the women's team.

England outside back Ellie Kildunne took the female 15s gong.
