The four-time world champion has taken pole position after pipping Oscar Piastri by just one-hundredth of a second.
Piastri's teammate and championship leader Lando Norris will start from 10th after crashing during the third qualifying session.
Verstappen admits it'll be difficult to keep them at bay.
Liam Lawson will line up 12th on the grid - his best qualifying mark of the season.
Racing gets underway at 5am tomorrow.
