Brodie Kostecki will start last in today's top 10 shootout for the Bathurst 1000 after setting a lap record in a razor tight qualifying session

The reigning champion at Mount Panorama's pipped championship leader Broc Feeney by just six one-thousands of a second.

Kiwi driver Ryan Wood was third fastest as the top six were all within one tenth of a time Kostecki could hardly have been happier with.

Matt Payne and Andre Heimgartner were the next best New Zealanders and will start tomorrow's race from 18th and 19th, respectively.
