A stint under Wayne Rooney has bolstered All Whites forward Ben Waine, heading into the start of 2026 World Cup football qualifying against Tahiti in Vanuatu from 3pm

The 23-year-old is contracted to Championship side Plymouth Argyle, where the former England striker was appointed manager this year.

Waine has since been sent on loan to League One club Mansfield Town after seeking advice from Rooney during the pre-season.
