The Wellington Phoenix women's side have missed an opportunity to return to the top of the A-League ladder, with a 2-1 home loss to Central Coast

All the goals came in the first spell with the Mariners taking advantage of a strong wind to open the scoring from a free kick.

McKenzie Anthony scored an equaliser for the home side but the visitors took back the lead on the stroke of halftime.

The Phoenix sit second on the ladder, two points off leaders Melbourne City while Central Coast move into fifth.
