Construction workers are being urged to make 2022 the year they speak up on mental health

Workers in the sector more than twice as likely to die by suicide than others.

Auckland has the highest rate, followed closely by Christchurch.

MATES in Construction chief executive, Victoria McArthur, says the predominantly male workforce needs to learn to seek help.

She says they also need to understand when their mates need help.
