The body of a man who didn't resurface after a Friday swim in the Waikato River near Putaruru, has been found by police divers

Emergency services were called to Jones Landing on Lake Arapuni Road about 6.45pm on Friday.

His body was found later that night using the police boat's sonar equipment, about 30 metres from the shore.

A post on the South Waikato District Council Facebook page yesterday asked people to stay out of the water while police completed their work in the area.
