One of the two men charged with double murder following the high-profile deaths of an Auckland couple's been sentenced to at least 19 years in prison

Shu Man Poon admitted to killing Mei Han Chong and Fuk-Fu Joseph Kwok in their Ellerslie home in 2023 just hours before his trial was due to start late last month.

The 44-year-old was sentenced this morning to 19-years non-parole.

Wide-ranging suppressions remain in place until his co-defendant Lok Li goes on trial next August.
