A Police staffer's resigned over refusing care for a prisoner - who'd passed blood

A Police staffer's resigned over refusing care for a prisoner - who'd passed blood

The IPCA's concluded the Eastern District authorised officer twice refused his supervisor's orders - when asked call a doctor and asked to escort the detainee to hospital.

He claimed he couldn't see any blood when the prisoner complained.

He also said he was unwell and couldn't handle the patient if they were violent en route to hospital.

Acting Superintendent Lincoln Sycamore says the detainee's concerns should have been taken seriously.

He says clear policies weren't followed.
