Amy Davidson is six months sober but still has to watch out for "triggers"

The 45-year-old actress revealed she used to drink wine "every single day" before she quit alcohol six months ago but admitted she sometimes misses her "liquid courage"

She shared a picture of herself on Instagram and wrote: "6 months sober...

"Let's talk triggers. I went to one of my favorite wineries/restaurants to celebrate a dear friend of mine yesterday and was so surprised (and not fully prepared) by my reaction. I felt like I was slapped in the face with a huge life lesson. Being around wine, something I would drink every single day, with girlfriends celebrating a friend's milestone birthday, everywhere I looked we were surrounded by wine and wine and more wine - it was challenging at first and I got in my head big time. Thoughts of what would happen if I had a sip or just one glass of wine? Feeling envious of everyone who was pouring themselves a glass, able to enjoy it without the internal dialogue of wanting more and more.

"Being amongst the "normalcy" of drinking alcohol and not participating was a very big step for me. I haven't participated in six months. I'm slowly changing my headspace from missing wine to being beyond grateful for not consuming it anymore. It sneaks up on you. The cravings, feeling like it's going to fix a bad day, like it's your best friend you get to hang out with on the couch, your sidekick, your confidence builder, your liquid courage. Sorry friends, but that's all b*******. Alcohol simply takes from us and what we think it gives us in return is a façade. I'm not preaching I'm just sharing. I've been learning way too much not to share... Anyway, we'll save it for another day."

Amy's friends took to the comments to share their support, with actress Ashley Aubra Jones writing: "Amy, I am so so so proud of you. I don't tell you enough. You are paving a different path and it's awesome and adventurous and fulfilling. And alcohol free. Love you."

And, Lesley Ann Warren wrote: "SO PROUD of YOU!"
