    The Government's pushing ahead with plans for a mega-ministry


    MCERT - the Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport - will lead Government reforms in transport, housing and urban development.

    The Ministry for the Environment is being merged into the mega-Ministry, but because it was established by statute, it requires Parliament sign-off to be disestablished.

    A Bill to do so was introduced today - and the Government says MCERT will be operational from July.
