    Heavy rain is making it's way across the North Island today


    MetService has issued heavy rain warnings for Mount Taranaki, the Tararua and Eastern Bay of Plenty ranges.

    Heavy rain watches are also in place for in Taranaki and Northland.

    Meteorologist John Law says there's also a possibility of thunderstorms coming for South Canterbury.

    He says the wetter weather will begin to clear tonight, apart from the northeastern parts of the country.

    A heavy rain warning will remain for the Eastern Bay of Plenty till midnight.
