Disappointment over the coroners decision not to launch an inquiry into the West Auckland fatal ram attack last year

Disappointment over the coroners decision not to launch an inquiry into the West Auckland fatal ram attack last year

Alfred and Gaye Hansen were found dead on their four-hectare property after a rogue ram entered their paddock and killed them.

The pair, both in their 80s, were found in a paddock by their son, who had gone looking for them.

The ram was shot dead by officers.

Their son, Antony Hansen told our newsroom there's still too many unanswered questions including why the ram's owners were never charged and why wasn't the animal held for evidence.

Coroner Fitzgibbon says she considered all of the matters required and is satisfied there were no circumstances that made an inquiry necessary or desirable.
