Christchurch police have confirmed a body found in Central Christchurch over the weekend - was 79-year-old Elisabeth Nicholls

She'd been missing from a Riccarton rest home since June 4.

Police say Nicholls was found at an abandoned property on Gracefield Avenue - just 250 metres from the Conference Street home she'd shared with her husband.

A coroner will investigate the circumstances leading to her death, and its cause.
