LeAnn Rimes felt like an easy "target" after her affair with Eddie Cibrian

The Can't Fight The Moonlight singer and her now-husband started their relationship in late 2000s after meeting on the set of Northern Lights, while still married to Dean Sheremet and Brandi Glanville respectively

Reflecting on the backlash to their affair, she told Flow Space: "I realised very quickly that there are a lot of women who've been hurt.

"Like, I've been on both sides of that coin - I've been cheated on, too, so I know that feeling.

"But so many women don't know what to do with that anger.

"I was a target that was just easily projected upon. And once I realised that, things got a lot easier."

LeAnn and Eddie, 52, tied the knot in 2011, with their wedding taking place less than a year after their divorces were finalised.

The 42-year-old singer has now reached a place where she doesn't take "all of the craziness" and backlash against the couple "personally".

She explained: "I know what I'm responsible for in the situation and making amends for that. "But you know, the world's pain is not mine to carry, and I think that really got thrown at me for a long time."

Brandi - who was married to Eddie from 2001 to 2009 and has sons Mason, 21, and Jake, 17, with her ex - previously opened up about putting and while their split and divorce were acrimonious, they have putting their differences aside to present a united front for their children, which included spending Christmas with her ex and his wife.

Speaking on her podcast Brandi Glanville Unfiltered, she explained: "I put my kids first. I have the utmost respect for myself. Like, certain times, I actually pat myself on the back and [say], like, 'Oh, my girl. You're doing this for your boys.'

"I can step in there and not give a f*** as long as everyone's happy and everyone's in one place and the kids are happy and we're having a good time and the food is good."

While Eddie and LeAnn's relationship with Brandi is cordial now, Glanville still managed to take a swipe at the pair while referencing reports Eddie had cheated on her during their marriage.

She said: "It sounds ridiculous, and I don't know that it would be done if it were the other way around if I had cheated and married and invited him over."
