War in the Middle East: France and allies preparing to escort ships through Strait of Hormuz

Iranian missiles are intercepted over Türkiye, Qatar and United Arab Emirates, as war in the Middle East continues. Follow live.

President Emmanuel Macron says France and some of its allies are preparing a "defensive" mission to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and escort ships through.

This announcement comes as Iranian missiles have been intercepted over Türkiye, Qatar and United Arab Emirates and oil prices have surged to over $US150 a barrel.
