A reminder from Auckland Council, that any dog can be a danger to children

A reminder from Auckland Council, that any dog can be a danger to children

Almost 800 claims were made to Accident Compensation Corporation last year, for children requiring hospital treatment for dog attacks.

The council has also received 12 reports about attacks on children this year.

Councillor Josephine Bartley says dogs are beloved members of our families, but the reality is any dog can bite.

She says they want to hammer the point home to make better dog owners - to keep dogs secure in their properties and make sure they're de-sexed.
