Johnny Mathis is giving up performing due to "age and memory issues"

The 89-year-old crooner is committed to playing three more shows on his 'Voice Of Romance Tour' but all shows after June 2025 will be cancelled as his problems have "accelerated"

A message on his Facebook page read: "While there are still some exciting concerts coming up, regrettably all Johnny Mathis concerts from June 2025 onwards are now cancelled.

"Please read the notice below, and contact individual venues directly with all ticket questions. Refunds will be made through the original point of purchase. Thank you, Mathis Fans."

The statement then explained: "As many of you may already be aware, Johnny Mathis is approaching his 90th birthday this year.

"So, it's with sincere regret that due to Mr. Mathis' age and memory issues which have accelerated, we are announcing his retirement from touring and live concerts.

"At this time, the 2025 Voice of Romance Tour dates will continue, with the final concert currently scheduled on May 18th, 2025 in Englewood, NJ at the Bergen PAC. Additional updates will be posted as necessary.

"Limited tickets for the final concerts are available at johnnymathis.com (sic)"

The post ended with a message of thanks for the 'When A Child Is Born' hitmaker's fans for their support over the years.

It concluded: "Johnny Mathis and his entire staff send their heartfelt gratitude to all Mathis Fans worldwide for your continued love + support of his music. It's truly been 'Wonderful, Wonderful.' "

Johnny is still due to play shows on 10 April in Pennsylvania, 26 April in Indiana, and 10 May in California, before his final performance in New Jersey on 18 May.

The veteran entertainer - who kicked off his 'Voice of Romance' tour last September - began his career in 1955 and released his first album, 'Johnny Mathis: A New Sound In Popular Song' in 1956.

His most recent studio LP, his 79th, was titled 'Johnny Mathis Sings the Great New American Songbook' and was released in 2017.

He received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003 and his three songs, 'Chances Are', 'Misty', and 'It's Not For Me to Say' have all been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Johnny remains Columbia Records' longest-signed recording artist.
