Concerns around price hikes at supermarkets will be addressed by the Prime Minister today

It comes as Foodstuffs admits its proportion of products on special at New World stores, has dropped since the Covid-19 outbreak.

Jacinda Ardern says government ministers will discuss a range of topics facing grocery chains today - including stock and pricing issues.

Foodstuffs says suppliers have been under intense pressure for weeks now, while border restrictions mean some imported foods may be temporarily unavailable.

Meanwhile, all Foodstuffs frontline, distribution and transport employees working during the four-week lockdown will be paid a 10 percent allowance.
