Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s non-profit organisation, Archewell, is “already underway”

The royal couple have not yet formally launched their charitable organisation - which they announced following the closure of Sussex Royal after they stepped down as senior members of the royal family - but sources have claimed the non-profit is already an “operating organisation”

An insider told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: "Archewell is not expected to have a formal launch in the short term. The work is already underway. It’s already an operating organisation.”

The couple - who have 17-month-old son Archie together - launched their website for Archewell earlier this month, which asks people to submit their details and sign up to their newsletter.

The note presented to those who sign up, reads: "Yes, I would like Archewell to send me emails about its activities and initiatives. You can unsubscribe at any time.”

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan announced plans for Archewell back in April, and said at the time they were "looking forward” to launching the foundation, but said they wanted to focus on the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The couple said in a statement at the time: "Like you, our focus is on supporting efforts to tackle the global Covid-19 pandemic but faced with this information coming to light, we felt compelled to share the story of how this came to be. Before Sussex Royal, came the idea of 'Arche' - the Greek word meaning 'source of action'. We connected to this concept for the charitable organisation we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name. To do something of meaning, to do something that matters. Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon. We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right."
