Weather experts are keeping a close eye on rain set to hit Canterbury this weekend

Weather experts are keeping a close eye on rain set to hit Canterbury this weekend

The possibility of heavy rain comes on the back of the 100-year flooding event - just a fortnight ago.

MetService meteorologist Andrew James says there's still uncertainty around the volume of rain, but computer models have some wet weather lined up for the eastern South Island.

He says they're keeping a close eye on the situation, and briefing councils as there are still flooding problems.
