    Weather conditions have eased - but disruption continues in many parts of the country


    Lines crews are working to restore power to hundreds of North Island homes.

    State Highway 2 - Matawai Road is closed between Gisborne and Opotiki, because of multiple slip.

    In the eastern Bay of Plenty, State Highway 2 is closed by flooding south-east of Whakatane.

    Fresh snow warnings have just been issued for South Island high country/

    Acting McKenzie Mayor Karen Morgan, says there's a risk rain could turn to black ice, with impacts on the district running into the next day or two.
