Firefighters are battling a large industrial warehouse fire in Auckland's Penrose overnight

Fire and Emergency received a call to a building fire on Maurice Road just before one o'clock this morning.

When crews arrived they found the building was well involved with the fire measure 130 metres by 15 metres and 7 metres high.

At the peak of the blaze, they had 9 fire trucks, 3 ladder trucks, and around 50 personnel in attendance.

The public is being asked to avoid the area.
