Capital FM DJ Aimee Vivian has been rushed to hospital with a life-threatening condition - just weeks after giving birth to her first child

The 37-year-old radio broadcaster announced she and her husband Steve Carter welcomed their baby girl Charli into the world on June 16, but now Aimee is hospitalised with "developing sepsis" - a serious condition where the body's response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs.

Taking to Instagram Stories to post a lengthy message on top of a photo of her in hospital, she wrote: "Thank you for all your kind messages.

"Little update i am still in hospital after being admitted on Sunday and developing sepsis. (sic)"

When Aimee is feeling better, she hopes to work with charities that specialise in mastitis - a condition that causes the breast to become swollen, hot and painful, and it is most common in women who breastfeed.

She continued: "Theres still a lot of unanswered questions and things to get a hold on so when i can ill be more open and ill be looking into working with some mastitis charitys to spread awareness on it.

"We know how underfunded womens health is, but seriously things have got to change. If men produced milk, pushing through the pain of a blocked duct, mastitis etc wouldnt be a thing.

"If anyone works for / knows charities or companys let me know as id love to touch base once this is all over. (sic)"

Aimee is gutted that she currently cannot spend time with Charli during her first weeks on Earth, but she is focused on getting better for her.

The DJ added: "Not being with your baby in the first month of their life is the most unnatural and abnormal thing.

"Literally count down the minutes in the morning till she gets here and dread her leaving at night.

"But focusing all my energy on getting better for her."

And Aimee admitted she would be "broken" if it was not for Steve's continuous love and support for her during this time.

Concluding her message, the star said: "Lastly to my superhuman husband thank you, without you i would have broken. (sic)"
