    Bad weather in the Tasman District has negatively affected spending - but also brought a a spike in sales of particular items


    Research company Marketview has found spending fell 7.5 percent last week - when the region plunged into a State of Emergency.

    There was an 86.5 percent surge in home, hardware and electrical spending.
