Major changes to the deer farming Code of Welfare - almost 20 years after it was established, in 2007

Major changes to the deer farming Code of Welfare - almost 20 years after it was established, in 2007

It had minor amendments in 2018, but a comprehensive review began in 2022.

There are now 64 minimum standards - up from four.

They range from requirements for feed and environment - to euthanasia, and health.

The Ministry for Primary Industries says most deer farmers already follow these standards by default.
