Austin Butler once had a shard of glass stuck in his foot for eight months

The 34-year-old actor has suffered various injuries throughout his career in Hollywood, including while shooting his new film, Caught Stealing

Austin told People: "I was covered in bruises constantly. Every day it was something new.

"I cut my shin open on a metal thing, I had to hop over something."

The movie star then recalled having "piece of glass" in his foot throughout the press tour for Dune: Part Two.

He said: "That feels dumb when I look back at it.

"When I was on the Dune press tour, I was in Korea doing all these interviews, and I was in a hotel room and I was walking barefoot. I must've stepped on a piece of glass.

"But for whatever reason, I thought that it was a nerve thing in my foot. So I just was hobbling around for eight months and then right before we were starting to film [Caught Stealing], I was just pushing through the pain of running."

Meanwhile, Austin recently revealed that he slept overnight on a film set to prepare for his role in Caught Stealing.

The actor plays Hank, a former baseball player-turned-bartender living in New York's East Village, in the new thriller directed by Darren Aronofsky.

Austin - who is well-known for his immersive approach to acting - told Variety: "For one night, I had the whole apartment to myself. I played music, I danced around, and I ate Chinese food in there.

"It made me feel like I really lived there. I slept there all night, and I woke up to the crew coming in while I was in my underwear.

"It made it feel like it wasn't a set anymore. There are many things that conspire against you when you're making a movie.

"You've got the lights and the camera and the set doesn't have a ceiling, because they've got to light it from above.

"It's tempting to look around and break the illusion. So the more I can do to trick myself, the more important it is."
