Katie Thurston feels "helpless" after rumours circulated she had died

The Bachelorette star - who was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in February - has found fake news articles being shared online to be "triggering" and she has appealed for help in getting the posts removed.

Katie tearfully said in a video shared to her Instagram Story: "I literally wanted to take time away from social media, but then I was getting, like, texts from people I don't normally hear from. Then, I got DMs from people, and everyone's like, 'Are you OK?'"

"I've seen this article go around before, but something about tonight really f****** p***** me off.

"It was triggering. I tried to report it [but] there's nothing I can do.

"I just feel helpless. I'm so mad right now."

Katie then called on help to tackle the false reports.

She added: "Like, if anyone works at Facebook [or] has any suggestion on what I can do, please tell me."

She later wrote on another Story: "[I'm] still here. FB is just constant clickbait.

"Please report these people. They suck!! This is so triggering."

But the following day, Katie poked fun at the speculation by filming an advert for a coffin company, noting she was "up here chilling with God."

She quipped in the video shared to Instagram: "It's me on the other side.

"I do just want to shout out Facebook for letting my friends, family, myself know that I have passed on.

"Just want to let you know things are good. Life is great up here."

Earlier this month, the 34-year-old star revealed she will be taking medication for the rest of her life.

She said: "I wanted to give an update on my latest chapter as someone experiencing [and] navigating stage IV breast cancer.

"The thing that people don't realize with stage IV is I will be on medication for the rest of life. It's kind of like a maintenance plan, which is great but also can be scary."

Because the cancerous spots on her liver appear to have "disappeared on its own", if her next scans come back clear, Katie will proceed with her plans to undergo a double mastectomy.

She said: "In November, I have scheduled my double mastectomy. Things are working so far and we're adjusting."
