A victim of a former Taupo church pastor describes him as a skilled, manipulating paedophile

A victim of a former Taupo church pastor describes him as a skilled, manipulating paedophile

Whangarei man Donald Corrie Lake has been sentenced to nine months' home detention at Rotorua District Court.

The 64-year-old earlier pleaded guilty to two representative charges of indecent assault on a person under 16, and a further charge of indecent assault, between 2014 and 2017.

One victim told the court he was a boy at the time and should have been looked after, not perverted, abused and groomed.

The man says the offending tainted almost every aspect of his life, including his career, his relationship with his parents and his faith.
