A two-day standoff between a Hikoi and Police at Auckland's Covid-19 border is boiling over

About 75 protestors want to get to Waitangi -- and have blocked southbound lanes at the Mercer checkpoint.

Traffic is being diverted along State Highway Two.

Police have verbally trespassed the protestors, who are occupying land owned by Waka Kotahi, and threatened them with arrest.

Earlier today, two men were arrested after they were caught trying to cross the border on foot on train tracks.
