Prince William is very superstitious about where he sits to watch his favourite soccer team

The 42-year-old heir to the throne is a big fan of UK club Aston Villa and he often watches the games on television when he's at home with his three children - Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and six-year-old Prince Louis - and he's revealed seating positions become incredibly important to him as he's convinced where he sits could affect the team's "luck"

He told The Sun newspaper: "If I'm home alone with the children, I probably don't have the pre-match pint [of beer] but I do have a bit of superstition about where I sit when I'm watching them.

"If we're not doing very well, I start moving round the house quite quickly and I put the children in different positions hoping that's going to change our luck."

The Prince of Wales also revealed he's active on Aston Villa fan forums but always posts anonymously.

He said: "I like going on the forums, I can be on there for ages.

"I listen to what other fans have to say and give them my opinions. I get quite into it, definitely. It's important to have that debate."

He added of his love for the team: "I like mixing with the fans. Anything Villa I love and they all love their Villa.

"It's a family within a family and I do feel part of the Villa family. This club does an awful lot - and I know lots of clubs do it too - but I particularly feel it with Villa in my life that I'm very included.

"The morals and the vision and the general atmosphere and the culture of the club really matters."

William previously opened up about becoming a Villa fan during an appearance on 'The Good, The Bad and The Rugby' podcast, saying: "The first FA Cup game I went to a long time ago, I had family friends who were big Villa fans so they took me to matches when I was younger and got me involved.

"At the time when I was going I thought it was great, I love it, I never really got into football that much.

"As I've got older I'm now addicted to it. I think the rise of the smartphone particularly and when Villa actually got relegated from the Premiership kicked off a deep routed passion.

"I think I was missing the team sports in my life playing it and I think it helps replace it a little bit."
