A section of Yaldhurst Road in Christchurch is closed to westbound traffic after a car crashed into a traffic light pole

A section of Yaldhurst Road in Christchurch is closed to westbound traffic after a car crashed into a traffic light pole

Police say they were called to the intersection with Masham Road where three people are believed to have serious injuries.

They say the traffic light pole was knocked over - but other lights at the intersection are working.

The NZ Transport Agency says the eastbound lanes remain open.
