    Three people and two dogs stranded in a cable car over the Whanganui River have been rescued successfully


    Emergency services say that shortly before 8 this evening everyone involved was "safe on dry land".

    They called authorities reporting their predicament about 5 this afternoon.

    The cable car stretched across the Whanganui River roughly between SH4 and the settlement of Parakino.
