Simon Cowell has undergone dental work worth more than $110,000

The 61-year-old music mogul - who is currently recovering from a broken back - had new veneers fitted over the weekend following a consultation with private Beverly Hills cosmetic dentist Dr. Apa because he was keen to have a more natural-looking smile

According to TMZ, the 'X Factor' boss was ready to have his older, temporary veneers removed anyway, but asked the dentist to give him a more streamlined look and even took a photo of his original teeth for reference.

Simon had two three-hour appointments with the dentist for both upper and lower veneers, and though Dr. Apa typically charges $4,000 per tooth, it's unclear what the 'America's Got Talent' judge finally paid for the cost of 28 gnashers.

Simon's friend Sinitta recently revealed her pal has had to break his vegan diet in order to "rebuild his strength" following his injury, which occurred while he was testing out an electric bike in August.

The record boss had ditched animal products in order to lose weight but was advised to reintroduce them as he needed extra calcium and protein.

Sinitta said: "I spoke to him last week and he sounded so much better.

“He wasn’t dazed, sedated or weak. He was really bright, happy and clear. He’s gained a bit of weight and is looking healthier. He said he had to start eating protein, calcium and break his vegan diet to rebuild his strength.

“That’s the wisest thing. He was bloated and stressed, then he was too thin and exhausted.

“Now he is fit and relaxed. He’s found his sweet spot.

“He sounds relieved and exhilarated. The sea air is so healing and rejuvenating.”

And Simon's six-year-old son Eric - who he has with partner Lauren Silverman - has been a great source of motivation.

Sinitta added: “Lauren said Eric has been the best medicine because he’s so playful.

“Initially the ordeal was a terrible blow - very depressing, very scary. He was in a lot of pain he was having to manage.

“It was all a bit blurry but he couldn’t allow himself to entertain those thoughts.

“He was looking at Eric and thinking, ‘I’ve got to get through this somehow’.

“He’s Mr Invincible and he’ll definitely come sailing through.”
