Team New Zealand flight controller Blair Tuke can understand the negative public reaction to news the America's Cup defence is likely to be held off shore

Tuke is preparing for his Olympic 49er campaign with Peter Burling and says he would rather defend the Auld Mug on the Hauraki Gulf.

He says they would love to race on home waters but are aware of the challenges of hosting an America's Cup in this climate.
