Salma Hayek feels like age is helping her "expand to other territories" as an actress

The 58-year-old star insisted while she was known as "the sexy girl" for a long time, her age and Hollywood's changing mindset both give her the chance to explore other roles

She told Marie Claire magazine: "There was a time when I was the sexy girl, but thank God age came and gave me the ability to expand to other territories.

"Although I'm still sexy and I embrace it."

She is also inspired by the idea of makings sure everyone realises "women are not dispoable" once they reach "a certain age".

She added: "Another calling that I have is to remind everyone that women are not disposable after a certain age in any department.

"We should battle that with all we've got."

Despite noting the way Hollywood has progressed, Salma noted there is still a lot of work to do done, including the way people talk about the performers when a film is successful.

She said: "The credit goes to the man. The girl is just the girl."

She insisted the credit only goes to female co-stars if the movie is a flop.

She pointed out: "I do have an audience and they go see me. But I've never gotten credit for the audience I bring into the cinema."

When it comes to her age, Salma previously revealed how "meditation" is the secret to looking so youthful.

She has left fans stunned on Instagram with her bikini snaps over the years, and she opened up on how she avoids being bothered by growing old.

She told 'Entertainment Tonight' back in September 2023: "I really believe it is. People say it's exercising. I think it's meditation.

"You have to find your way. For me, exercising is hard... It's really, really difficult to have the discipline to do it.

"But meditation is a walk in the park, because it's my own form of it. You sit in a moment with yourself, that's already meditation. But do I do it every day."
