A public servant's husband who fraudulently obtained more than two-million dollars from Oranga Tamariki must serve a year's home detention

Amandeep Sharma was sentenced at the High Court in Christchurch today - after pleading guilty to Serious Fraud Office charges.

His wife, Neha Sharma, forged a document to get work at Oranga Tamariki - then got contracts assigned to her husband's company.

She was sentenced to three years jail last month.

The couple also pleaded guilty to money laundering for transferring about 800-thousand dollars to an overseas account.
