A warning weight loss drug Wegovy might do more harm than good for Kiwis

A warning weight loss drug Wegovy might do more harm than good for Kiwis

The drug, which suppresses appetite, will be available by prescription from next week.

It's approved by MedSafe but not funded by Pharmac, so users will have to pay.

A US study by the Centers for Disease Control reveals the drug hospitalises nearly 70 people daily in America.

CEO of Calocurb, a natural appetite suppressant company, Sarah Kennedy, says this is likely down to gastrointestinal issues.

She says side effects include nausea, constipation and diarrhea.
