New research is a step towards better treating chronic stress

An Otago University study found stress releasing brain cells, turn on and off once every hour, in rhythm, regardless of your state of mind.

Senior author Karl Iremonger says it opens the door to exploring how these patterns affect health, mood and sleep.

He says they want to develop treatments, to dial down excess brain activity, in people with particular conditions.
