The suspected killer of two Australian police officers, on the run in Victoria's high-country - is said to be armed and dangerous

A detective and a senior constable were shot dead and another officer was injured - in an ambush at a Porepunkah property.

They were among 10 officers carrying out a raid.

Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Mike Bush says the suspect is known to Police and is thought to live there.

He says the man fled on-foot and was on his own at the time.

Bush says police are still trying to locate his wife and two children - but they weren't seen heading into the bush with them.
