One of the country's newest knights says philanthropy gives him purpose

Sir Rod Drury, who co-founded accounting software firm Xero in 2006, is one of four new knights and three new dames recognised in this year's New Year Honours List.

Sir Rod stepped down as Xero CEO in 2018, and has since focused on philanthropic work from his home in Queenstown.

He says he enjoys using his business skills to tackle infrastructure problems.
