A potential contender as the next All Blacks coach has been bundled into touch

The Herald understands Vern Cotter will finish up at the end of the Super Rugby season as Blues mentor and take over at the Reds next year.

Outgoing Queensland coach Les Kiss is set to assume the Wallabies mantle from Joe Schmidt in July.

The upshot is Cotter will be ruled out of any New Zealand-related role.

Cotter guided the Blues to a first Super Rugby title in 21 years during the 2024 season.
