Emily Andre was “really fearful” when she contracted coronavirus

The 31-year-old doctor – who is married to singer Peter Andre – tested positive for COVID-19 almost a year ago, and has admitted she was worried for her health at the time because there wasn’t as much information available on the virus

She said: “When I had it, it was nearly a year ago, I felt really fearful actually. I think we knew less than we know now so it was really quite a stressful time for us. I kept away from the children completely for two weeks, and luckily I recovered completely.”

Emily’s husband Peter – with whom she has daughter Amelia, seven, and son Theo, four – also caught the virus more recently, and although he was “anxious” about the illness, Emily was able to stay calm and help their children stay relaxed too.

She added: “When Pete had it a bit more recently, I felt a bit more relaxed. I think he didn’t, going through it himself I think he was a bit more anxious, but I was quite relaxed and I tried to put that across to my kids so that they didn’t feel worried and anxious. I think it’s easy to put your anxieties onto them.”

And the beauty – who is step-mother to Peter’s other two children, Junior, 15, and Princess, 13, whom he has with ex-wife Katie Price - went on to share her tips for keeping children entertained amid the pandemic.

Speaking during an appearance on ‘Loose Women’, she said: “We’ve been doing what we can day by day. The way that I’ve done it is by trying to give the kids as much routine and structure as possible. You know, when everything around them is chaos, trying to make some sort of stability for them. Trying to get them up out of bed at the same time, going to bed at the same time, routine around their meals. Trying to get them to do activities and exercise, simple things like that. But it’s really difficult.”
